Ya there are certain programs that do that... but the thing is, you have to have the program already installed when you lose your files... a system restore wouldn't bring them back because if you notice when you click on system restore, the first window that opens up says "When using system restore, it will not cause harm to documents you have created as well as emails and your favorites." Another words system restore won't touch files that you've created, it's mostly meant for viruses or programs that don't seem to work right...
Believe me, I've been through this serveral times, and it does suck, but hopefully you can find a way... although I think your out of luck...
