| Family. Family, what does it mean to you?
Recently, I spent a year from a rather close branch of family. People I consider, now, to be gods. Wonderful people that watch over and care for one another. I relize how obsurd it was for me to skip out on them to go skateboard, watch movies, blah blah blah.
You see, my parents are divorced, like most. I live with my mother, near the beach (PCB) and I never really spent lots of time with my dad(Before I was ten, more on that in a sec). Sure the occasional Night over and all that jazz, but not a lot of quality time. He had a pretty bad alcohol probablem, so my mom tried to keep him at bay. But when that same probablem transferred over to Ol' moms, my dad made his way back to me.
He showed up at my bus-stop when I was ten years old, and educated me about how he had been sober for almost a year. He knew my mom was battling his same past demons, so he came for me. This day changed everything for me, and it changed my life, and it changed me.
For the next two years, my mom battled a horrendous alchohol addiction, which to this very day still haunts me in many ways.
It's been about two years since my mom has had any affiliation with any drug, and five for my old man. I love them both, and are happy beyond words for them. They inspire me in more ways than they will ever know.
Anyways, My dad shares a property with my Aunt and Uncle, who are very close with their Children ad grandchildren. I too, have become close with them. I used to come out to my Dad's place everyweekend and visit them, But like every teen, I needed my space. My dad wanted me every other weekend and It was barely enough for me to be with friends(that lived at the beach near my mom's - my primary residence, then and now.), see my mom's parents, or just chill. My father and I got into an arguement that shold have never existed, so we took a "Break", which was f**king stupid.
Two weeks ago, I came back and Saw them and my little sister again. It was one of the best weekends of my life. Currently, Im sitting at my Dad's desk, typing on his computer to the forum that occupied, in ways, throughout.
So, what are your views on family? Please excuse typing or any other gramatical errors, it's 2:10 in the morning and Im running on six hours of sleep.
