I don't think either style is any less fun to play necessarily but the distinguishing factor just seems petty to me. | the way that you are thinking about it, that would mean EVERY game is a RPG (ROLE PLAYING GAME) in any game are you not "PLAYING THE ROLE" of the character, or even the "driver" of the car. there are many categories of games and even mixed categories, thats why i say Oblivion and Zelda are Adventure/Action/RPG, there is such a thing btw.
