if anything menu based fighting system means nothing. ROLE PLAYING SIMPLY MEANS. you "role play" as the character. Final Fantasys have guide lines you usually have to follow. Rpg's are wear you make your own choiced. Such as in phantasy star univers, become what ever type of fighter you want. O wowz...taking shit from a kid who says Final Fantasy isn't "really" an RPG and can't spell...well anything right. Way to impress people with you amazing logistical and conversational skills.
And just for the record, games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior are the games that pioneered the RPG genre. Sure, there were text=based before this (Shadow Gate, etc...) but those games were the first in which you played a character...you became him. You felt the emotion, the anger...you became the the main protagonist of the story.
So to say FF is not a "real" RPG is incredibly disrespectful, and not to mention stupid.
