They basically weren't prepared for their success. The problems associated with the increase in traffic from the Halo 3 launch should have been a notification that additional measures would need to be taken for an increase in the user base over the holiday season.
That being said, I accept their apology and will gladly download my free arcade game. I probably won't play it or be able to select a game of my choosing, but I appreciate the gesture.
Note to MS : People would rather be informed and have problems than have problems and be kept in the dark or mislead as to the extent of the situation.

I had no lag when H3 was released, so I wouldve though (in the GMs position) that since they had no problem with xbl then, why would christmas be worse? Most people get bored of games in that amount of time, yes I understand its halo, but still it happens. Something like this can't be predicted sadly, you don't want to over upgrade your system because its pointless if its working fine already and it would be a waste of money. Yes, even MS shouldn't waste money... wait I'll spell it correctly (according to some T360F people) M$.
Then again, I can see your point of view. Non the less a free game is cool with me. I didnt really care if xbl was crappy at that time, you could piece it together.
