As to the age limit, not a bad idea and I will explain why. I am an older adult and I play GOW and other online games with whoever. It makes it difficult sometimes to talk about certain things or tell certain jokes to the other players in the room if I know there is an eleven or twelve year old in the room. I think what klown is all about with this new adult clan is to promote an environment where those of us who are older can feel free to discuss "adult" issues without worrying about influencing a younger player. I dont see what the problem is. There are age limits for lots of things: driving, drinking, clubbing and so on. I have some of my students on my friends list and I try to be mindful of what I say and the things I discuss when I am playing with them.
As to playing against tweens and teens and worrying about being beaten, I wouldnt think that would happen since this doesnt sound like a competitive group and will most likely limit their gameplay to the adult gaming community. Lots of older adults are into video gaming. I personally know several gamers in my community that are 30 and over. Again, I dont think Klown was trying to dump on the younger gaming community, just those that tend to be obnoxious. I would enjoy playing with more gamers my age, Hell....that way I know their reaction time and hand-eye coordination is slow like mine!

It's not bullshit to put an age limit on the clan, and I'll tell you why. Yes some teens are more mature than others, but there's no way of anyone telling just how mature you are. So by putting this age limit you will have a much better chance of gaining "mature members" then you will of gaining immature ones.
I don't think its a bad idea, so good luck with the clan man, although I don't know of too many elders that are not in a clan/ available. | |
