The reason I don't think so is because personally, NOTHING can out beat the super nintendo. Everything since then has been fun, but not GREAT.

That's why the Wii is going to kick ass! Imagine Live Arcade but with Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario, Kirby's Dreamland, etc.

yep i agree with hex on this one mainly because we are such big h1 fans. look at the difference between h1 and h2 their completly different, h1 was a true skilled game with no auto aim thus takeing skill. all the hype around halo2 killed it imo, bungie killed the halo franchise aswell, h2 is to glitchy and inconsistant imo, h2 lacks skill of players and just look at the noob combo..NUFF SAID.
i hope that alll the next gen games don't get so hyped up that it kills the game when it's released, but we are yet to see but i'm sure gow won't flop  at least i hope it doesn't.
as for revolutionary then the wii is the way forward with that the ps3 is just a mix of the wii and the 360 i.e sony are shit and can't think of their own ideas. imo the next step for true gameing after the wii release will be virtuall reality if that eventually comes out then the possibuilitys are endless  | |

They can already do VR now (and have been able to for quite a while) but at the moment prolonged use causes dizzyness and puking (Virtual Boy anyone?). | |

Graphically, we will never be satisfied. There is always something better to look at on the horizon. The next gen can't live up to that. We could have a visually flawless game atm, but it would likely have as much gameplay as Pong. Fight Night 3, makes me mildly optimistic though, crossing my fingers.
Gameplay is what needs to evolve. While I don't think Wii will accomplish it, since it is incorporating relatively new technology and has the job of introducing a new concept to gamers. I do believe Nintendo is probing in the right direction.
A few under-developed or underfunded gems will emerge, but right now all the able developers are for the most part following formulas for mass market appeal and mainstream success.
I think the hype will win this round, but I'm rooting for the underdog.

I hate to say this but I am getting a ps3 just for G.T and MGS and I prey they live up to their hype ^^

^See I respect the game companies like Square Enix and the guys that do MGS and the lot. But it's Sony themselves that have reduced themselves as a piece of brown ass cake...
