will next gen games live up to the hype?

do you all think we are putting to much hype into next gen games? with games like GoW, H3, HL2 chapter 2, CoD3, and all the others do you feel that they will be able to live up to all this hype that not only us the buyers have put out but the makers as well?

i am just scared that the makers are going to get so big in the head and dropp the fucking ball on all these new games...what do you all think?

happend with halo2 so i think halo3 will b the same as for Gow dno and COD3 dnt have that much hype as of yet

I believe that there is no game that truly lives up to its hype becasue peoples expectations going into a new generation of games is so unbelievably high that people just become content with what they expect and settle. But the true test is when we have games that look like your staring through a window and not a tv thats when gameing will be dead we probably will achieve this soon. It is just like hollywood now everything has been done time and time again, people hype up movies to being greatness, but now hollywood is falling hard, the video game industry will too. ill give the video game industry 20 years. that is all it has left in its life span.

Well first off brute you can thank me for correcting your title. You had "well nex gen games live up to the hype" instead of "will nex gen games live up to the hype" hahah. But honestly man i think we are good to go. Especially for GoW. They have spent to much money on that game for it to completely blow and i think they wont release it until its nothing short of amazing.

Halo 3 is looking good but we cant judge to much yet since we know very little. CoD 3 will rape. Honeslty what CoD game hasent? So i say no worries.

I think games THIS generation will because frankly, THIS generations game hype is shit. Apart from 'revolutionairy' graphics, games are already going into loops. Eventually there will be photorealistic versions of Quake, COD and Rainbow 6 style games. Essentially they can mix genres (Quake+Rainbow6=GOW) but it's still going to be the same old, same old... but new.

Microsoft has propelled attention and hype to the multiplayer aspect of console games due to Xbox Live and the Wii is "Revolution"ising physical gameplay and interactivity. I suppose that's a start, but I've yet to see a "NEXT GENERATION" game that has next generation hype to follow through.

I mean, I've got ideas like everybody else, of games that haven't yet been done at all but it's too risky for developers I think. Once you get your key audience pleasing genres, then everyone else is just going to follow suit (GTA+lack of originality=Saints Row). <---I never said they sucked as a game, but they suck when it comes to actually being Next Generation.

I don't believe that, the graphics right now are great but we are know where near reaching the limit of what can be done. And I doubt we will for a long time. Granted the character graphics are amazing, but have you ever stopped to look at the in game world? Look at the bushes in PDZ, look at the houses in COD2 (the ones you can't enter). Most of the things there are blurry or generally crappy looking. What we are going to get in new systems is not going to just be more pixels on screen at the same time, but more memory and more space to fix up everything else.

Also I don't believe the game industry will ever die. And you can't really compare it to the movie industry either, because games are interactive and unlike movies it's not the same each time to play it. People are still playing Halo 2 over a year after it's release even though it has no more secrets to give... it's basically the same game yet over a billion games have been played on live.

The only game I am conserned about is Halo 3. Bassicly because of Halo 2. The last game was a sell-out. They made millions, possible billions because of Halo 2. And I really doubt that they are going to make anotehr Halo 1 and make less money. But Gears Of War is not overly hyped. The only thing that might go wrong is something to do with lag, like Prey and Call Of Duty 2, yet it will be fixed in a patch if it happens. Call Of Duty I am thinking will be flawless, they learned to fix lag because of the patch in Call Of Duty 2, but I think I may not like it as much as Call Of Duty 2 because from screenshots it looks like they are going to add in the "Cover" thing from PDZ. And in my opinion, covering is only another name for camp. And the vehicles may not be good, but I really doubt that.

there are some games even now that when my new girlfriends walk in when I dont hold a controller they ask what tv show im watching so they do look real. I think gow and h3 will but everything else even if it doesnt live up to the hype it will still r a p 3.
