| For the record I’m not bashing video games at all. I love gaming and I always will, but that’s not to say I don’t think it’s the greatest hobby of all time. Quote: |
- Chatting is something that can only be fun when there is a decent amount of people to chat with consistieny, If you cant find that then your screwed, I would know since i have Chatted over 5 years in Yahoo, good times...
| It’s not hard to find people to talk to, go into a chatroom on a popular site and there’s tons of people. You don’t need to talk to the same people constantly, it’s plenty fun to talk to many different people. I just opened up trillian and I’m going to count the amount of people that are logged on and not away… 21 people. And not only do I delete people from the list of a regular basis but I don’t usually add people. It would be much bigger if I did. Quote: |
-Masterbation cna be enjoyed for about 10 mins, then you'd do something else..
| Pfft 10 minutes? I laugh at your 10 minutes… Jk Quote: |
- Exercising Can be great, when you know what your doing, which alot of people dont know how to properly know how to and then pull something, plus excerise cant be dont ANYwhere with ANYONE.
| Actually a lot of people do know how to exercise properly. Most people who think of it as a hobby would know right? Just do a 10 minute stretch before you do your thing and know your limits, it’s not hard. And exercise can be done anywhere… did you know the jogging counts as well as things like push ups or jumping jacks? It’s not like you need special equipment of things like that. Quote: |
- Learning a musical item is hard to learn at first, unlike gaming, you cna pick up a game and no problem, depending on the person they can improve on the difficulty if they want.
| Sure it’s hard at first when your new to something (nothing is easy if your not familiar with it not even video games) but there’s a big payoff at the end. It can relieve stress, is fun, social (bands and other music lovers), and depending on how good you get you can pursue a career in it.
Now lets take a look at gaming.
It’s not easy to get into, in fact it’s quite daunting to really get involved in. Take the price of most of the current systems, the price of HD or memory unit, a controller or two, and a few games. The fact is, while the gaming industry is growing (about 50% growth since 99) it’s not that more people are getting into gaming. The companies are taking more money from the same people. There’s not enough penetration when it comes to new people getting into gaming.
As an example I’m going to use my sister, who doesn’t play any games. I’ve been trying to get her to play more and have showed her a few arcade games. He favourite game so far is Bejewelled because it’s such an old formula from the later generations. But I tried to show her Marble Blast Ultra and damn she sucks. I’ve been trying to give her tips and show her how to play, but she can’t even get past the beginner levels (She can’t control the camera properly). So what we think as something easy and simple to get into, may not be so easy for someone who is not use to already playing games.
Also last time I checked, gaming was not a mainstream hobby. It’s not cool per say, while some people are addicted to sports or music it wouldn’t make them really look bad. Take a jock from your school and tell me who’s more popular. Him or the other guy who’s main hobby is playing video games?
I have other points, but I’m not going to use them all up at once. |

| You know what I hate? I hate the celebs who say they are gamers and go off naming a very old game like tetris or donkey kong as their game of choice. That pisses me off so much (then the interviewer always makes a comment afterwards about it like "so you got mad skillz at Tetris?") |

| For you people who say getting drunk is a hobby you need to know the meaning of it, some other hobbies I enjoy are playing baseball, playing the guitar, frisbee golfing, ping pong, surfing, collecting anything. Other hobbies like drawing, sports, and anything with improvements to who you are as a person.

| I would say that music is your best hobby.
Music>Video games
If you can enjoy the gift of music, it is a medicine for everyone. You can play for yourself AND for others. You can calm yourself down, or get into "the zone". It develops hand-eye coordination, and you can do whatever you want with your music. The possibilities are endless. Make a sweet harmony, or rock out with a drum solo. And truly, you can never get bored of music. It's just that amazing.
I spend at least 2 hours a day playing piano, pumping drum beats, thrashing that guitar, or solo-ing out on the cello.
Also, you can create music ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYHOW. |
