I was searching on ebay for prices of PS3's. Then I found someone who got a close up of the receipt and it has the Serial Number of the console. I know this is illegal, but would it be possible for someone to register the PS3, on the website and claim it as their own, then say it got stolen so that Sony can mail them another one? Imagine what I could get for free

you wouldn't get shit they would tell you its not there problem unless that console had low jack and i dont think it did but most people cover the Serial number in the receipt...so good luck trying to scam them.

Sony wouldn't cover theft, it's too exploitable. If you had theft insurance however, you could technically commit fraud and risk jailtime for a ps3.
