| Think you know English? Let's see! Alright, I love studying etymology (the origin of words, in this case English words.) It's just really fun to read the process of evolution in most words and then putting your knowledge to the test and trying to "translate" some phrases in older forms of English.
try this:
"Obfuscatory lucubration is of nugatory efficacy." <-it's M.E., after Latin was introduced.
"Nu we scelolon herigean the heofonlican wuldorfaeder." <-OLD English.
"paet waes god cyning!" <-Old English
"This cok that lay upon the foxes bak, in al his drede unto the fox he spak, and saide, "Sire, if that I were as ye, yit sholde I sayn, as wis God helpe me, 'Turneth ayain, ye proude cherles alle! A verray pestilences upon you falle! Now am I come unto this wodes side, Maugree your heed, the cok shal here abide. I wol him ete, in faith, and that anoon.'" <-M.E. from Canterbury Tales. |

| "paet waes god cyning!" - He was good king. Know it because it is from Beowulf which I read for my English Lit class
Old English is a pain in the ass.
