What it is, is your heart skips a beat. | What Is a Heart Murmur?

Types of Murmurs
Innocent (harmless) murmurs
A person with an innocent murmur has a normal heart and usually has no other signs or symptoms of a heart problem. Innocent murmurs are common in healthy children.
Abnormal murmurs
A person with an abnormal murmur usually has other signs or symptoms of a heart problem. Most abnormal murmurs in children are due to congenital heart defects—heart defects present at birth. In adults, abnormal murmurs are most often due to heart valve problems caused by infection, disease, or aging.
If your heart randomly misses beats, im sure that would eventually be fatal (assuming that it would eventually screw up the rythem of your heart beat)
My brother had a small hole in one of his arteries going to his heart, nothing bad just unconfortable sometimes. |

Dont get too freaked out......its a very common thing. Many children are born with murmurs, some develop them during adolescence, other in their mid twenties. Typically its not a serious condition and most children "greow" out of them eventually. My son was born with a heart murmur, and my daughter ahd the indications o one when she was 4 years old. Both are very healthy (son is 18, daughter is 12) and have had no reprecussions at all. Keep a positive outlook because more than likely it is a temporary condition and will correct itself. Especially with children your sisters age, there are big changes occuring in her body, hormonal shifts, fluctuations of growth hormones, and such, that could very well be the cause. I just came back from the doctor, and it was nothing, its just a murmur that goes away for a while and keeps coming back. Nothing too serious, and will not affect her in any ways, ever. |

i have one too...i couldnt go to football practice for the first week until i had it checked out....it causes me to get dehydrated faster than normal....
