| Pentagon Researches "Halo-Type" Armor ...by Halo type armor I mean self healing, see-through, invisible armor. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/future-te...mor-270589.php Quote:
DARPA, the crazy research arm of the Pentagon, is looking to make science fiction a reality. Their current goal? To create shoot-through, invisible, healable body armor.
Yeah, we're talking armor that soldiers can see and fire through on one side, but is invisible and impenetrable on the other. "Friendly forces will be able to see through it and shoot through it, but hostile forces will not. [It'll also have] the ability to 'self-heal' if necessary. The materials must be lightweight, respond instantly, and be easy to deploy and retract in confined spaces." They'll accomplish this using metamaterials, crazy compounds that I can't even begin to wrap my head around. This doesn't seem to be all that realistic at the moment, but hey, the Internet was just an insane DARPA project at one point too. –Adam Frucci

| I don't recall seeing anything like that in Halo 1 or 2 on easy, medium, heroic, or legendary. If you wouldn't mind telling me where it is? I am in fact interested. I'm pretty sure that MC's Armor isn't invisible, unless you are talking about Active Camo? |

| I heard about this. You know they've found a material that can make your car look invisible by refracting light or whatever? They're about 50 years off though with the armor.

Or maybe the next level of a bubble shield (deployed quickly, see through it, serves as a shield. Only differences would be the ability to shoot through it and the fact that it is opaque from the outside.

It's like the two-way mirrors that are used in police lineups, interrogations rooms, casinos, etc. That kind of stuff isn't really that hard. Now if they're trying to make the user invisible, then some different difficulties would be presented, but not really that many considering the project.
On a side note, if this is the kind of stuff that we're told that the gov is making, imagine what kind of stuff they're making that they don't tell us about. o.0

| They can already use heat signatures to make very small objects invisible... but to make a person invisible they'll need to use optics... something that is easily exploitable by bright light. |
