As many fans of Major League Gaming know, one of the community's biggest fans makes a living in the National Basketball Association. An avid Halo player, Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards loves MLG. He is such a huge fan of the league that he sponsors top Halo team “Final Boss” (sometimes they refer to themselves as “Team Arenas”). His friendship with Final Boss started two years ago and he has since attended several MLG tournaments to support the team and our league. Gilbert's presence at our tournaments always draws wide eyes from fans and highlights competitive gaming's movement into the mainstream.
In 2008 MLG Online Halo 3 Tournaments will directly affect seeding at our live Pro Circuit events. Each online tournament will require a fee, but for the first Pro Circuit Online Ladder of 2008, Gilbert Arenas has generously sponsored the tourney, making it free to all participants!

Now nearly fully recovered, he’s looking to the fans for support in this year's All-Star voting. Major League Gaming is proud to announce that its 2008 Pro Circuit will combine Live Competitions with an ongoing series of Online Ladders and Playoff Brackets. Registration for the first Pro Circuit Online Ladder is now open and competition will begin on January 14. It's a new year, a new game, and anything can happen. The search for the world's greatest Halo 3 team begins now.
NBA superstar--and long time supporter of Major League Gaming--Gilbert Arenas has generously sponsored the first Pro Circuit Online Ladder of 2008, allowing gamers all over North America to compete for free and make a name for themselves in the pro gaming world. Future 2008 Pro Circuit Online Ladders will have registration fees.
Using the tried-and-true GameBattles ladder and bracket engines, MLG has interwoven its 2008 Live Competitions with ongoing online components that will allow players to compete for pro gaming notoriety every day of the season. Not only will this ongoing competition help the most talented and dedicated players rise to the top, but it will also allow those who work hard to gain an advantage at Live Competitions through pre-seeding points and reserved Live Competition passes.

Each Live Competition will be preceded by an online Pro Circuit Ladder. The highest 128 ranked teams at the end of the ladder will be invited to compete in an Online Playoff Bracket. At Live Competitions, teams will be seeded by their Online Playoff/Ladder performance. Note that all teams who qualify for the Online Playoff Bracket will have a pass to the corresponding Live Competition reserved for them (the top 128 teams), so that if they wish to attend they will be guaranteed a pass (instead of fighting the masses to get one before they sell out—which usually happens in mere minutes). What follows is a walk-through of how the process works:
--Sign up for Pro Circuit Online Ladder 1 (which corresponds with Live Competition 1) is now open.
--Competition on Ladder #1 will begin January 14 and continue until February 17.
--At the end of the Ladder, the top 128 ranked teams will move on to the Online Playoff Bracket.
--The Online Playoff Bracket is a double-elimination online tournament, which begins February 19 and ends on April 7.
--Teams will be seeded for Live Competition 1 based on the results of Online Ladder 1 and the Online Playoff Bracket.
--Online Ladder #2 (which corresponds with Live Competition 2) launches February 19 (at the same time that Ladder 1 Playoff Bracket begins).
--Process repeats for each MLG Pro Circuit Live Competition.

I think its pretty cool that a professional athlete gives this much support to video games. I mean, most athletes nowadays only support things that'll get them money.
