Default Need Help Connecting to XBL with Wireless Adapter

I have never had a problem using the wireless adapter before until I got my new Elite. My adapter connects the wireless router but when i run the connection test the ip adress fails everytime. I can connect to XBL no problem when i hook it directly to a router but that limits my playing time because then no one else in the house can use the internet. I have my settings on Auto, and Ive also tried connecting while putting all the settings in manually. Any help please...

I got the perfect solution for you:

-Go to best buy.
-Buy a LAN cable.
-Plug it into your Xbox.
-Plug the other end into your router.
-Stop losing packets

Problem solved.

Seriously though, wireless is a horrid way to play online gaming.

As for your problem at hand... Are you having connection troubles with anything else in the house? Everything getting an IP alright? Try checking Xbox.com and see if the Elite has a different port forward # than the normal Xboxes do.

My little brother had the same issue. Call Xbox and have them troubleshoot it for you. They pretty much fix it over the phone and tell you exactly what's wrong.

Hitzel, online gaming isn't horrid. I use it! (well, that might not be saying the right things, depending on how my connection is perceived by you guys! lol)

But Royce, if you want, call me first so I can help you out. I use the wireless adapter, and I've gone through troubleshooting already, so I know what's going on.

Router in the basement, xbox upstairs. And dont u mean an ethernet cable not a LAN cable.

xbox customer support is the dumbest shit ever. All they tell you to do is power cycle and try putting the ip in manually. no matter how many times i tell them i already have.

When I had the wireless adaptor, anything that was 2.4 GHz in between the reciver and the router threw off the connection completely.
