Default The360Forum.com FAQ

Why can't I make a post?

- When you signed up, you get an activation email with a link to activate your account. If you didn't click on that link, you can't post. In this case, contact Z on aim with your username. Z's aim: ZEE10101

Why is there no seperate topic/sub forum for a certain 360 game?

- This might be down to the game not being popular or Z has not got round to update the forum with a new topic for a certain game. If you feel a game should have its own forum please contact Z on aim. Z's aim = ZEE10101

Can I edit my own posts?

- if you have registered, you will be able to edit your posts. Note that the administrator can disable this ability as he desires. Your ability to edit your posts may also be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

To edit your posts, click the button by the post you want to edit.

After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post. Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages.

Are there any special tags or codes I can use to markup my posts?

- For the most part, your posts will contain plain text, but on occasions, you may want to emphasize certain words or phrases by making them (for example) bold or italic.

You will see, when you start typing your message there a few buttons above the spot where you are typing, with a B or an I or and underlined I. Just simply write out your text and select the test you want marked up and click on each button depending on what you want done.

Default Threads that shouldn't be threads

I don't know if any of you know me, but I posted on Halo2Forum.com a lot. I spent a lot of my time in the off-topic forum because I think this is where the most meaningful and thoughtful discussion is. Luckily the360forum.com is still fairly small in comparison to lets say H2F, and we have time to prevent a lot of the problems that are obvious at H2F.

1. Good night Threads - While they are extremely tempting and sometimes accepted they really are unecessary and for the most part annoying. You can probably say good bye for the night to the people that care over AIM or some other means, but really threads don't need to be made.

2. Moderator - Even more tempting, people want to be a mod or have influence on the site. In all honesty, most people think THEY should be mod and care very little about your own wants to be a mod. Moderators should never be openly critiqued in threads, PM the necessary people to get your point across. The site admin will contact you or ask the forum community for input if they need/want it.

3. Personal Conflict/Love Threads - These are definitely PM's. There is no reason that a thread should ever be made that concerns only a select few people on the forum. They're pointless and arguing over an internet forum is really just more sad than anything.

4. Redundant Threads - Although we haven't seen them here yet, they will come. And it is important that we recognize them and ignore the consistently redundant theads. A few examples are "The Drug Thread", "The Religion Thread", and the "Post a Pic" thread. They will come and come again but hopefully as a community we can eliminate the majority of these. Use the SEARCH button!

5. Spam Threads - Indirectly these threads will come up (at least they did at H2F). The "This or That" thread is a direct representation of how bad this kind of thread can get. Countless spamming posts that do nothing but bump a basically stupid thread over and over. Just don't do it.

6. 100/500/1000 Post threads - These are basically spam threads that really shouldn't be made. The only reference you should make to your post count is if it is something like 1337, 1000, or any post that is significant to you, but should not be the main focus of a thread.

7. Threads that are made to single out (negatively) a single member. Any thread that is made in order to bring either a specific or specific few members is not allowed and will result in a ban. A prime example would be making a thread about Unreal Ryan that portrays him negatively. Don't do this, it really pisses me off.

Well, that's my rant! Hopefully we can make things really cool around here and avoid all of these problems. Thanks for reading!

I'm not trying to say that posting in these threads is a bad idea. I posted in the one mod thead as well. This is just a reminder of what should NOT be a thread. I don't want to make people feel bad, just make sure that they have a good idea of what and what not to post.

P.S. I am not a mod, but I am good friends with Z and hopefully I can make some sort of a contribution back to the site.
