| Nintendo Wii Quote:
Ahead of its pre-E3 conference, Nintendo has revealed the name of its next-generation console, codenamed Revolution. Here is the offcial word: Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."
While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, it's really not about you or me.
It's about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything. | http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10804/...on-Has-a-Name/
All I can say is...DublU Tee Eff M8?

| I'm buying six, so I can sleep with them all around me.
I like the name actually. And when you think about it it's not the name that matters. Also Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 aren't really that catchy either. I mean who actually liked the name "Xbox 360" when they first heard it? I personally thought it was kinda dumb. But it grows on you.
Just wait, in about 6 months you will be saying Wii too
WIIIIIII!!!
Angel knows whats up, he's our forum DDR player It's games like DDR that I expect from Wii, and I can't wait.

Anyways, in all honesty, this is probably the first or second time I've ever really been excitied about getting a new console(first time being the NES)...I mean, this has the potential to completly change video gaming as we know it. I mean yeah, I'll always have my 360 for my clan matched and FPS's that I love, but Wii opens up the opportunity for almost unlimited possibilites.
I've always had complete and total faith in Nintendo, hell, call me a fanboy if you want, but this console is going to be big! |

| But do you realise how much harder it will be to be a Nintendo fanboy Angel when your console is called the "Wii" for christ sakes lol.
The controller idea is interesting, but I can find it being a nuisance for playing any game competitively. Almost completely eliminates FPS's practically too, as it wouldn't feel right at all. Plus the minor inconsistencies of a controller like that would kill gaming at a competitive level. Some of the single player experiences may be fun, as I am sure a few cool sword games will make use of the sensor

Imagine aiming with the pointer, then moveing with the control stick attachment. This may bridge the gap between Console FPS's and PC FPS's.

| I say don't bash the Wii until it comes out and you actually get to try it. People thought Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker was going to be crap from the graphic style they chose. And the game was an absolute blast, it was fa really good game.
Remember how people thought the DS's touch screen was only a gimmick? Some really great games have been made on it that really uses it to enhance the game. I'm not saying it's going to be the best idea ever, I'm just saying don't call it out or bash it until you try it.
Also Super Smash Bro's Online? Freaking eh |
