|  PS3 E3 Press Conference Discussion

Supposably Gamespot will have a live feed but it isn't working. To keep those lazy ones out there happy, I'll post any main points here. HIGHLIGHTS FROM LIVE COVERAGE
PSP "Greatest Hits" announced, just like the budget titles for Xbox/PS2. Ape Escape On the Loose, ATV offroad Fury, Hot Shots Golf, Twisted Metal, Wipeout Pure.
Too bad the handheld doesn't have any really standout games anyways, at least now they cost what they are worth. RSS video, voice over IP, camera and GPS peripherals to come to the PSP later this year.

November release confirmed
Backwards Compatible - 15,000 titles, interoperable with PSP via network, USB, Memory Stick.
Playable games confirmed at E3
Played a Grand Turismo Prototype with Dual Shock controller...EuroGamer reported it as looking "sharp", "amazingly impressive", and said "car detail isn't perfect".
"Next demo of something to be revealed at E3, says Harrison. Card battling, power of PS3, and EyeToy. "The Eye of Judgement" - developed by SCEI.You place cards with your actual hands (as in, the ones attached to your arms), from which monsters then appear on on-screen. They then fight."
Make what you want of it lol, don't think anyone here cares.
Account management, friends list, profiles, voice and text messaging, video chat, rankings, and latest info all free of charge.
Games, videos, music all will be downloadable and microtransactions confirmed (Like MS Points I'd imagine) including a pre-paid card like Microsoft has.
SingStar PS3 shown, allows downloading of music and HD videos. There is a wallet sytem with spending limits, but no word on song prices.
"My SingStar" community. Profile, scores, customisation, details on who's playing. You can add your video performance, snapshots and golden moments for friends to see. (Euro Gamer)
Genji 2 shown, an N3 type appearance. Lots of enemies, real-time action all over the place, etc. Disappointing overall. Playable at E3.
Heavenly Sword shown, kind of like God of War and Prince of Persia. Playable at E3.
Another Getaway game makes an appearance, the series that keeps getting worse but will never die.
Short game appearances: Afrika, Monster Kingdom, Hot Shots Golf, Eight Days, Assassin's Creed , Mobile Suit Gundam, Coded Arms Assault, Ridge Racer 7, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Tekken 6, Sonic the Hedgehog (3D), Virtua Tennis 3, Virtua Fighter 5, John Woo's Stranglehold, Fatal Inertia ("Available at launch"), Bladestorm: Hundred Years War, Armored Core 4 (Some of these seemingly CG, some gameplay)
"Resistance" from Insomniac looks very nice...Military FPS, being played on stage. Futuristic combat, 32 player online play and is playable at E3.
NBA Live 2007 showed a small demo with 2 guys in a gym and some nice movement.
Tiger Woods was shown as an example of facial rendering on the PS3, using motion captured movement to protray a very realistic smiling face of Tiger. Supposably running live on the PS3.
"EA plans to support PS3 "with more than 10 titles" including Army of Two, MOH Airborne, Madden NFL 07 and others. We'll be able to play Madden PS3 on EA's booth." ((Yay, more crappy EA games littered with bugs))
Square Enix showing FF XIII and FF Versus XIII, both announced earlier in the day at the SE press conference.
MGS4 makes an appearance, the first one which actually wow's me personally. Although I haven't been a fan of the series, it looks incredible. Can't be sure if it was CG though, just a cinematic clip. ((2007 release))
They bring out a Dual Shock-looking controller which appearantly has motion sensors ala Nintendo's stick. Assuming this means the design will be the same as the old one plus motion sensors? Also is reportedly lighter.
Warhawk has been updated to make use of the controller, guy from Insomniac comes on stage and flys a plane using the controller, pressing a few buttons to fire but ultimately controlling it with controller motion.

Seems like that is the end of it, for those just looking for general impressions I guess the show ended on page 6 of this thread.
My overall opinion: I wasn't impressed at all. They announced one thing they had over the 360, being the motion sensor controller, and they showed a bunch of crappy ass games which probably won't even make it at launch. Plus the announcing of 10 bug laden games from EA, probably 8 or 9 of which will be rushed for launch.
They didn't delve into the online aspects very much at ALL, as if even THEY aren't sure about what they are doing.

I just hope the PS3 does live up to it's promises. So far Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 are making the PS3 look amazing.
