If you were drafted........

Just about every other week at my school, I always see the same damn recruitment tables "to fight the War on Terror", and it makes me wonder, if you had to join a branch of the military, which one would you join and why?

I personally would love to join the Air Force as either a pilot or a technician. Firstly, since I live for the thrill I think I wouldn't have any personal problem with getting into a jet and flying it. Secondly, since I want to learn some technical skill with motors, I think the Air Force would be able to help me learn more about it by becoming an aircraft engineer, repairing all the turbines and engines. Thirdly, I love math, and hopefully if I go to college (or even before that), it would help me be prepared for what I would possibly have to deal with when going through their "bootcamp", and besides, I'm learning how to be an electrician, and my teacher was an Air Force technician.

And besides, I always wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter, an assault chopper in general.

So, what's your story?

I'd probably join the Army. Mostly because I kind of have a hard-ass demeanor alot of the time (not sure if I'm embarrassed or proud to say that), and I'd want to move on to a special forces unit (The Rangers). If I didn't join the Army, I'd join the Marines, same reason.

@ WAN73D, I would of thought of joining either the Army or Marines for the same reason, but being a pilot makes you feel like you have more responsibility, so I don't know if that kind of pressure is good on me or not.

The Air Force would be alot of fun, but I think I'd be afraid of screwing up on a technical level and possibly injuring or killing someone other than myself.

I would join the air force. Army/Marines too much of a chance of front lines, though I think I could handle it. I don't like my chances of being stuck in some submarine or doing grunt work on an aircraft carrier or some other boat. I like the options that the air force would present. From being a pilot, to working in avionics, or even mechanic on some of the aircraft it would just be more interesting to me. Air force also works a lot with the UAV's, satellites, and other cool stuff.

I dunno. I like shooting guns and I've dreamed of being in the front line dying to save other people. I figure if I can't help myself, the least I can do is help someone else with a future. And besides Army is like what you see when you think of war, or at least I do.

Navy for sure. I like boats, the water , and they will let you grow a beard. Not much on flying so that rules out the Air Force. Too much marching in the Army and too much piss and vinegar in the Marines!

I was 2 seconds away from becoming a sharp shooter for the military. But I don't have 20/20 vision and I couldn't afford laser surgery. I really wish I could have done that.

I have a sick obsession with guns, especially sniper rifles.

Personally, I don't want to be conscripted into any army and I hope it will never happen.

But, when I was a teenie-weenie of 10 years, I always dreamed about joining the USMC. I thought they were the heroic, frontline troops who always basked in glory and fought for a good cause. Until I became disillusioned, of course. If I were to be drafted, I would want to be in the special forces of any branch. I wouldn't want to be a pilot, because I don't like putting so much of my life on technology, because technology fails. I'm a good swimmer, so Navy SEALS wouldn't be bad, and I like the camaraderie of the Green Berets or Army Rangers. Marine Recon wouldn't be too bad either.

Basically, I want to have the best skills necessary to stay alive.
