Are we headed towards WWIII?

I don't know how many of you have been following the Georgia-Russia conflict, but it seems that international tensions are becoming strained very quickly. While Georgia pretty much initiated the conflict, Russia seems to have stormed and occupied the whole place. Under the cease-fire agreement they are supposed to be pulling out right now, but barely anything has been done. NATO is keeping up all its diplomatic rhetoric and Russia is basically telling them that they aren't scared because they won't back it up.

Also in the Middle East, Iran is trying to flex its muscles by demonstrating rocket capabilities and has shown constant determination to not stand down on its nuclear fuel enrichment.

Partially due to the U.S.'s desire to "defend against missile attacks from rogue nations" (i.e. Iran) they are trying to put in a missile defense system whose process seems to have been fast tracked due to the Russian conflict, further pissing off Moscow. A Russian General actually said, "Poland, by having a missile defense system put in place, is exposing itself to an attack - 100 percent"

Anyways, its a very interesting topic to me and its kind of crazy with all of this politcal word fights ratcheting up. So what do you guys think? Who is wrong, who is right? Feel free to comment on the whole thing or any particular issue. Maybe this won't get much attention here, but I thought I would post it up. Any dumbass comments will be removed.

It's hard for anyone to really be right when most of them are simply looking out for their own interests. Nowadays, things aren't nearly as clearcut as they were back in WWII. I will say that the Russians appear to be acting like douchebags. What's the point in signing a treaty if you're just going to violate it?

Took the words right out of my mouth. I was reading an article a few days ago about this. But why exactly is Russia taking over Georgia?

Well, it all stems back to the breakup of the soviet union. All these regions like ukraine, poland, georgia were under soviet rule. the dispute now is over south ossetia and abkhazia which kind of half ass won independence from georgia back in the 90's and now the georgian president went in there to try and take it back. but russia backs the separatists and most likely wants to annex the region so they responded with a lot of force, obviously more than necessary as kind of spite for georgia, its pro democracy ideology, and the fact that NATO has thought about allowing them membership.
