They could remove fighters if they wanted to, there were a lot of "clone" characters in Melee. But they've never given any hint of that.

Two of the Newcomers are clones of one another (Pit and Meta Knight), and even if clone characters were being removed, Capt. Falcon shouldn't be eliminated, plus that would just make Ike and Lucas cloned on'ers, so to say (cloned characters, but the only one playable).

I remember reading somewhere that all the characters from the previous game will be kept and more will be added, Nintendo is going all out this time round, even bringing back classic stages to fight on.

In the Dojo update for Lucas they mention Ness several times so most likely he is still in it. Also in the Samurai Goro update they mention Falcon.

MK and Pit are totally different characters. Ike isn't a clone of Marth and Roy AT ALL. Lucas is similar to ness, but his moveset is different. I don't see why Sakurai would replace Ness instead of just changing his moveset.

Again, what you see on that site isn't everything, and they aren't going to show everything either. We won't know everything until after the 20th when the game releases in Japan. I can't sit here and guarantee you things that aren't confirmed yet, but there's no official word that they're removing veteran characters.

MK is a fast character with disjointed hitboxes. Pit is a medium speed character with projectile attacks and shielding moves. The only similarity they have is that they can both glide and jump multiple times like Kirby. So can Charizard.

Read the gimpyfish impression thread. It has a TON of info in it.

Sonic runs faster than Fox but is slightly slower in mid air. They don't share the same attacks at all, except for their Uairs. All of sonic's specials (except upB, which is Springboard), most of his smashes, and some of his aerials are all "spin dash" attacks. Sonic's moves actually have a little more power than Fox's, but Sonic is harder to control.

If I had a Wii I would no doubt get this game, because the SSB is in my top 5 games of all time. If not #1. But I'm not gonna buy a Wii just for this game. Games usually get worse as a series get on, no matter how good the game is (Look at Halo) so I'm taking a wild guess that this one isn't going to deliver like the first one. If it does then their might be a chance that I will get it, and if I don't I will definitely play it at friends houses a lot!

I personally liked Melee better than 64, actually.

I don't think it's fair to compare a series to Halo though. Halo is the way ti is today because Bungie did it that way on purpose, not because they became incompetent.

I'll be REALLY pissed if this game turns out to be a dud, though. The Wii has proven to be a pretty shitty console so far. I bought it banking on the fact that Brawl is gonna be good, and I only had one chance to buy it. They're still nearly impossible to get your hands on. The only reason I was able to get one was because I got to Sears right as they got 3 extra Wiis and talked the guy working there into letting me buy one (it was supposed to be reserved).

I highly doubt that they would remove Ganondorf AND Capt Falcon. They may remove one (since they are clones), but I'd almost guarantee that they wouldn't remove both. I think its more plausible that Ganondorf will come with a new moveset (then him being removed altogether, that is). The only characters that I believe are confirmed as removals are Marth and Roy; they're being replaced by Ike.

Also, do you honestly think they'd tell us about ALL the newcomers and stages? I really wouldn't be too surprised to see Ridley in there as something of a surprise since fans have been clamoring for him since SSB and since his background might be cohesive with the Space Emissary storyline (of which little is known about) for obvious reason. You can also bet that the last third party character won't be confirmed until the Japan release date, but I bet it'll be something big
