Challenging Description:Warsow is a deathmatch-style game designed by competitive gamers. The game is designed to run fine on any computer. Slightly cell shaded graphics let the game run at a high FPS with high visibility on most PC's. That game is extremely fast and frantic, and everything is superbly balanced. The downside to Warsow is that the amount of movement techniques required for competition are numerous and hard to master.

Medium Description: Cube 2 is a deathmatch-style game designed by a single German developer. Cube is designed from the ground up to be highly customizable. The game has a built in map editor, and players can create maps together online. Cube's gameplay is very conservative, with only the basic weapons and powerups, but there are many unique gametypes available to keep players busy.

Medium Description: AssaultCube is a full mod of the original Cube to make it play like counter strike. AssaultCube is significantly slower than Cube, with more emphasis on teamwork. AssaultCube shares all the features of Cube, excluding the in-game map editor. The best part about Assault cube is that even the most god-awful shitty computer can run it.

Medium Description: The original Cube is virtually the same game as Cube 2, but Cube 2 is better in every way. The map editor in Cube 1 is limited, but it works fine. Basically, you only play Cube 1 if for some reason you can't run Cube 2.
Unreal Tournament How to Download:First, download this by clicking "Download Now":

This is a non-CD patch and is not illegal. It works for multiplayer.

Challenging Description: Unreal Tournament is an old deathmatch-style shooter akin to Quake. The game is fast-paced and features some unique jumping techniques. The game's community is still going strong and the game has a ton of community mod support.

Medium Description: I put FEAR on this list because it's a very impressive free FPS. The gameplay is a mix of deathmatch-style and tactical teamwork. It has some heavier system requirements than the rest of the shooters I've posted thus far, but the thriving community, anti-cheating software, and mod support deserve a mention. FEAR's single player is not free, so the CD key gives you multiplayer only.

Challenging Description: Gunz is a third person shooter designed to make you feel like an anime superhero. The combat is a mix of weapons and swords, and using your sword to defend while using button combos to fire quickly is a huge, yet difficult element of play. The game uses an RPG-style leveling system where players get EXP and credits for kills and victories, and can use the credits to buy new equipment once they level up enough.
