| Yeah!!! SR is making a comeback!!!
Although I am not gonna play in the ladder because I don't play many games anymore Im glad that the SR community has a new chance to bring a great game back to the circuit.

Yeah, Shadowrun has stacked damage and shooting through walls like any client-side netcode game, but I definitely prefer it to the crap you get with games that do more host-side netcode (at least for console shooters). I guess everyone will have a different opinion, but I have seen issues with the netcode for all console shooters and my experience with Shadowrun netcode has been better on average than most shooters.
I really wish FASA had implemented host migration though -- the lack of host migration was always a real killer for public matches. |

Right on both parts. Nothing we can do about it for now. |

It does allow you to defend yourself against standbyers though.
The real problem is of course that Live works with listen servers, because most game's don't leave enough processing cycles for the host to do proper hit detection (where it rolls back the gamestate in memory to see if the client got a hit on their screen but without the risk of modders), maybe someone should make a game where the host has his graphics scaled down but with actual working hit detection...
By the way, I just found out UT 3 uses the same hit detection as Gears. This is going to suck, imagine trying to shock someone and having to lead your target according to ping while your target is dodging all over. Gears 2 will use listen servers again too. |
