Okay, I remember Charlie asking what are thoughts of the what "Emergence Day" on Live might be. I don't know if you ever found out, but if not, here:

In honor of Emergence Day 2006, Xbox 360 will honor the launch of its next-generation defining title Gears of War with the single biggest day of gaming on Xbox Live. You don't want to miss a series of special events planned on Xbox Live on November 12, including a 24-hour leader board tournament, hourly Play & Win events, and several Game with Fame sessions.
Additionally, you'll be able to get tips and tricks from lead designer CliffyB of Epic Games, Inc. as well as download limited edition gamer pics, themes, and other great interactive entertainment sure to get your blood flowing as you challenge the Locust Horde.

I'm probally going to be lagging alot because I think my brother is home on that day and he does all kinds of stuff on the computer that makes me laggy, so thats gonna suck. On the other hand, the gamerpics and everything else sounds pretty sweet. I hope to god that my brother wont be home that day.

If I have it right, it's the day of the Strogg(lol Locusts! not Strogg, that's cause we were talking about Quake today, thusly ... Your fault Hitz!) invasion.
Like Independence Day, but with more weaponry and less Will Smith.
Release date is the 8th or something isn't it?
Emergence Day is the 12th, it's related to the game's story.
It's either the day of the Locust invasion, or the day the Human survivors launch a counterattack.
12th is a Sunday, definitely not a good release date.

And when looking on most retail websites, including Xbox.com, they have it down for releasing on the 7th also. And "Emergence Day" just means all the stuff that will be available on Live on the following Sun.
