Default HD Settings?

I recently got a 15" HD Widescreen TV. Yesterday, when I was playing Rainbow Six, the top and bottom of my screen were cut off like a widescreen movie, but it wasn't that bad. I told my friend and he said just change your HD settings, I had it on 480 (default), so I changed it to 1080i and the picture looked amazing and and there was no black top and bottom on my screen, which used to show up during cutscreen, Rainbow Six, and When a game was loading, or its front screen, but everything looks closer and seems disproportional, is that because I'm not used to it? Will it affect me if I go to someone elses house and play a video game on a normal TV or on 480?

Also, what TV (not brand just size and widescreen and normal) and settings of HD do you use?

Should I go back to 480 or stay at 1080 with a better picture and just get used to it?

well my tv is 1080P and i set my 360 (in the dashboard) to 1080P and it works fantastically. also make sure on the a/v cord coming out of your 360 to your tv is set to HDTV; not just TV.

It is, but when your first changed it did it seem weird because every thing seemed proportionally different?

Did you have to get used to it?

it didnt seem weird it just seemed amazing. i went from a tiny-ass tv that was older than me (the edges were almost circular is was so bad) to a 56" DLP HDTV.

I have a Samsung 40" HD LCD (I think lmao, I forgot) it's amazing.

I play on 720p, maybe 1080p. Don't do interlaced though, it's not as sharp.

If your TV is square and not widescreen then 480 is the correct setting for the TV allthough 480 is not really "HD" as 480 is also a SD resolution.

if it cut it widescreen like you its bcoz the game plays widescreen within the square on the TV unless set on widescreen resolution ALOT of 360 games do this SR is one and so is BF:2, and if your TV is square then setting it to 1080i will mess with the screen ratio as it will fill it top to botton then sqwash the sides to fit in maskeing things look tall and thin.

if your TV is square then ur just gna have to deal with the 480 resolution and how the games are "anamorphic" widescreen in a SD resolution.

i myself now use a 22" widescreen PC monitor for my xbox and my pc and i have the xbox resolution set on the one below 1080p useing a VGA cable an dit only cost me £170 Beutifally crisp and as its a pc monitort there is onyl a 5millisecound delay so its very respoinsive for games
