Hello, guys. Alright, your first thought is going to be "Ugh..a noob didn't use the Search Button, and asked a dumb question about a nooby capture card." I assure you, though, I searched..and searched...and searched. I think I've been trying to find a source that is reliable to tell me more about the card I'm looking into for a about a month, but I still never found the assurance to buy the card.

After lookin at a few tutorials, I found that I am most interested in buying an External Capture Card, mainly because I feel my laptop will do a better job than my computer will (which is already equipped with an ATI TV Wonder 650). The best one I found was the ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link.

My problem is this: I know many places where I can buy this, but I'm not sure whether this is the one I'm looking for. I've heard people saying the ADS Tech Pyro is discontinued, and others say it has no more support. Going on ADS Tech's website, you find two models of the ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link -the API-558 and the API-557. Both of these are not the API-555/6, which I know the majority of the users who use the Pyro Box have.

Also, what is very confusing to me, is that the API-557 Model is under "Video Capture Devices", and the API-558 is under "Professional A/V Components." I do know that one comes with Adobe Premiere Elements, and the other doesn't, but I'm still not sure whether this is the product I am looking for.

So, I just need a simple "Yes" or "No" as to whether these two models (API-557 and API-558) are the same as everyother ADS Tech Pyro user is using. And if you can, tell me if there is any major difference between the API-557 (PYRO A/V Link w/Elements) and API-558 (PYRO A/V Link).

No, Gyza uses the "4ng31's Do-It-Yourself Capture Method"

But I use the Pyro, so does Venomous and Hex. It's a really good card, plus it's external, which is good in terms of not having to install/remove it if you ever switch computers.

The one that I have is from the previous run of Pyro's (they re-modeled the design, which is why I think you are hearing that they are discontinued).
