I tried to use 1.7.8 (latest version) but it didn't work (idk why, it said it supports Vista and I used the 32-bit, but everytime I tried to do capture filter or actually capture it crashed, even when I exited out of the program it said it had an error and crashed, but you could try it). I would either use 1.7.7 or 1.7.6, maybe even 1.6.x.. wouldn't recommend going to the x.6.x though.

Ah, a Dazzle 90, hmm I made a thread a while back on steps to get good quality, but I use a different way now, maybe I'll make a new tut soon...

But there's waaayyy more than enough tuts on how to use a dazzle 90, check H3F and/or just google it, it's THE most used mid-range capture card.

yea but see whenever i clik on capture avi its just a blank screen and it says its connected

At the top, make sure that you're in

Device < Dazzle 90 (whichever one it is)

And make sure that under

Video <
You have Overlay or Preview selected. It doesn't matter on some capture cards, but others it will only let you see a preview on one or the other.

Also, under Preview Acceleration, you should select off.

When you actually capture, it's recommended that you turn preview off, as it makes it lag a great deal and you get more frames/better quality when no display is checked when capturing. Also, when you capture, make sure you hit F6, not F5. F5 is not as good as a capture as F6 is. I don't really know why, I saw it on the vdub site a while back, I'll go look up the reason now...

I did a bunch (of more) reasearch on deinterlacing, and also smart deinterlacer 2.8. A bunch of sites say to use Gunnar Thalin's Smooth Interlacer, but it's extremely advanced, and doesn't work all the time, and takes a frukload of time to render/process, with good results, but IMO not worth it. I probably know more about interlacing and how to deinterlace more than almost everybody on this forum, because those fucking fields piss the hell out of me, especially in 'tages.

I have come up with settings to use to deinterlace with a slow, mid, and high range computers, with smart deinterlacer 2.8 in Vdub. I haven't tested it out yet but plan on this weekend. I'm pretty sure they'll work.

I now need a new compression setup, most likely XviD or DivX, that will take some time to figure out though, haven't really researched that stuff much. If anyone wants to help test the deinterlace setup, tell me and I'll post it. Remember, Dazzle's that could cap. in Vdub or ATIs, because they're pretty similar... don't test if you have a different c.c.... well you can but I won't use it in the results. I'm gonna make it an All-In-One tut, effectiveness and easyness for everyone... if you trust a 14 year old with capture settings, that is =]

I just bought the ADS Pyro. I am still trying to work out the component capture (which is pissing me off). But it works well even with the standard AV input.

I capture with VDUB.

With a few minor adjustments (deinterlace, sharpening) the quality comes out pretty nice.

I am thinking about throwing together an H3 montage from some clips I have just for the fun of it. I am no pro and don't play MLG settings - just matchmaking so I doubt there is a point in posting it if it will just bring out the flamers. But if I get it done I'll let you know where you can grad it so you can see my capture.
