Alright, I'm new to the montage making scene xD

Hey guys,
I've read several stickies here and on other forums about making montages, but some things just aren't clicking right away (rofl). I'll start off with the basics:

- I have a Samsung LN-S2341W that I game on with my 360. In the future, I plan on making montages. This is an HDTV that I play w/ on 720p.

What would I need? I already have a DVD Recorder but if a capture card will give me better quality, please give me a specific list of what I might need based on the info I gave. Money is a factor, but I can probably spend up to $200 on equipment overall..so I want the best quality for my buck.

Preferably someone in the same situation who makes montages, or someone with a lot of knowledge and/or experience.

i don't no to much either on the montage side of things but if you ask ang3l or hex blitz or irken. infact theres a lot of very good tage makers on this forum so i'm sure someone will defo be able to help you out bro

Well, if your woking with a capture card, you're gonna need:

1.http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...le/default.htm <-- So you can play on your TV and computer at the same time (comes in handy, because when you play on your computer along you get a TON of lag)

2. Of course, a capture card. (Dazzle makes pretty good ones for a decent price. Some people may deisagree, but if you can't spend over $100 on a capture card, I'd suggest check 'em out. I don't have the link yet, but I'll edit later.)

3. Some other stuff, forgot what it is, hope someone else will help me

I think their called "RCA extenders" but I'm not sure.... I don't even have them

actuallyy u wont need any off that if u have a premium box (witch i geussing u have as u mentioned HDTV)

for true HD montage ueing ur dvd player i think u will need a HD-DVD recorder but if ur normal one works wen ur box is set on 720 or 1080 it should good quality (all be it u rip the dvd good)

capture cards unless u wanna spend like $1000 are all SD but with the HD cable pack thats comes with the premium if u set ur box to non HD using the switch on the cables u can plug the red blue green HD cables into ur tv like normal then the yellow into a capture card

then all u will have to do is split the audio plugs if u ar not useing the optical audio.

after u get a good cap card. and are able to cap with good quality. make sure dont have a editing program that will kill ur quality. i would sugest dl sony vegas 6.0 or adobe premire 1.5. to edit with

lol nope i dont have an HDTV

sux, right? So i gotta use a pretty poor-quality capture card, but i can still get decent quality using a dazzle (it's good enough for me at least). I just thought this would be a good time to ask, does anyone know where i can get a s-video/audio extender cable? and if not, just tell me where i can get an extender cable for composite and audio. thnx.

btw hex, what does SD mean? lol im a n00b

It's standard definition, 480i.

Well, I'm not aiming to capture in 720p because that'd take up an assload of space on any storage device..SD should suffice. Would I have to play in SD for the quality to be normal when it's being captured? I just want decent clarity and whatnot, I don't want to go overboard (at the moment, haha).

Yes, I do have the Premium. So, if I used the DVD Recorder, I'd just hook my 360 up to the DVD Recorder, and then the DVD recorder to the TV? Or what? LoL.

So, if I used a capture card, I still can't play in HD, right? I'd be playing and capturing in SD if I understand this correctly..which isn't really a big problem I suppose, I could use my non-HD television.

Hex is sayin unless u wanna rip out the benjamins u aint gettin HD with a capture card.

Also he's saying plug in the Red, Green, and Blue (component) plugs into your TV, and the Composite (yellow) into your DVD recorder, then split the audio plugs if you're not using the optical audio. Which i have no clue what he's saying there, i get the video part, not the audio. I'm a n00b w/ audio stuff also >.< lol
