Go to File > Capture AVI...then look in the devices list. If you cannot see the device you use to capture, then I suggest getting Pinnacle or ULead.

ok, i need to know what u r capturing w/. right if ur using svideo what u need to do is plug everything in. but start up vdub and make sure taht ur composite is working. click on video->preview. u should see ur stuff right? kk now go to video->video source-> svideo. make sure u clicked on file -> capture avi first. so then u click video source -> svideo, then click video -> preview. go to video -> capture filter, make sure u have the correct fomat ( i think if u have a NTSC just put it as NTSC_M) then click the middle tab and play around w/ the settings till u have something u like. then click on video -> capture pin and put quality to 1.000 and the size to 720x480. boom put ur compression and filters up and set a file by clicking file -> set capture file then click capture -> capture video and boom ur done.
its hard to follow but... yeh sry i typed it kinda fast.
but yeh if it still dont work... well ur screwed idk use the program that came w/ it

Ive followed all the directions, but cant get one thing to work. When i go into ->capture AVI i cant find the Divx codec under compression. ive uninstalled and reinstalled virtual dub and the Divx package a few times, and even got the newest version for both of them, but its still messed up.
EDIT: also when i go to video->compression when im not in capture mode, the codec's are there...? | |

If your Xillsoft unregisters....
Uninstall it from ur PC, then reinstall it. Run the keygen again, copy the serial, and enter it in. It re-registers.

I dont think hes talkin about that...he means he cant find the divx codec in the compression when in capture avi....
I cant find it either....so i just use huffyuv or watever its called...
