Yeah, and asking the general really doesn't make much sense. I don't really read comic books, because I've always regarded them as being kind of nerdy (though alot of the art and storylines coming from them are pretty badass nowadays from what I keep hearing), but The Hulk is definitely in The Avengers, not a general. Unless the general is a representative for The Hulk so he doesn't, you know, get angry at an Avengers board meeting or something. Maybe someone with a little more comic knowledge could enlighten us.

As time goes on, film produces seem to be on the receiving end of alot of pressure to remain true to canon. Of course, they still allow for many changes (usually to make things more realistic/believable or to allow for the film to fit within a timeframe), but very rarely do they go completely off course anymore. Usually the comic companies will let the films contribute to elaborate on a character's history, but they'll prevent them from altering things such as origin. Like I said, I'm not exactly a comic book afficianado, but, from what I know, Captain America wasn't ever a general. He wasn't even born in the same time period as the other Avengers (Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, etc.). He was created by some super serum or something to fight in the second world war, if I have this right, then he was put into cryo-freeze to later be revived by The Avengers.
