Guitar Hero to get Drums and Vocals?

This corresponds with information Joystiq has received from a source close to the company, who tells us that multiple instruments – including a microphone and drumkit – will be a part of the next Guitar Hero game, likely to be called Guitar Hero IV despite its focus on multiple instruments (other potential names: Band Hero and Rockstar Hero). Also, our source reports that Activision insiders are proud enough of their drum peripheral to say that it will be "superior" to Rock Band's (we know, shocking).

Perhaps just as importantly, Activision's weakness in downloadable content could be resolved as early as the release of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith this June, when content is expected to be released regularly, perhaps "even weekly." Also contributing to the company's positive outlook on DLC is the pending merger with Vivendi, potentially giving it unparalleled access to that company's Universal Music Group, the largest family of record labels in the music industry.

Very Cool!!!! I will buy it. Just because it more songs to play. I have no loyalty for either. I just want to rock. And also, hearing that their drums will be "far superior" to RB's is awesome. Whatcha think ?

I think this would be a great game. I would probably buy it and I like the idea of them having the drums seperate right away unlike RB did.

So Harmonix sells the rights of GH to neversoft so they can make a game with multiple instruments, and then Neversoft decides to steal that idea an incorparate that into GH? I guess thats cool as long as my rock band drums will work on the game, and they have hard guitar songs still.

I actually think that's lame. Without concentrating on Guitar songs it will become much more easy

. Ruins the GH experience. I just think neversoft has ruined the franchise.

We'll have to wait and see about that. They could just hire more people, they prolly made the monmey to do it, and have each large group focus on one instrument. But I think I also heard somewhere that both RB's and GH's next installments will be harder in general.

I personally believe its going to be next to impossible for them to top rock band.....They better have an AMAZING song list and better/durable instruments to use otherwise i really think they are wasting their time.

I think Cater is right....They did awesome focusing on just the guitar. I say keep focusing on that!

Which is probably what a lot of people thought about what Harmonix was doing with Rock Band, and now look at it. Every genre needs competiton or the games get stale, i.e. Tony Hawk. With GH now focusing on other instruments as well its probably going to force Rock Band to step up there game. i.e. playing your own music off your comp/mp3 player. I'm just saying competition is a good thing. And you never know, GH might do it well.

Unless they come out with a legit looking drum kit for the game and a INSANELY good song list like i said it won't take the cake for me.

Now if they have a double bass pedal for the drums they automatically win.

I'll be satisfied with Rock Band. I'm no GH junkie and not hardcore about these rhythm games. I just like to play with friends or just to listen to the songs.
