there you go again, how does the combat system decide if a game is an rpg or not? oh right, it doesnt.

no valid arguments? looks like we have something in common then.
the only thing you have used to base your facts on IS your opinion, that doesnt work. through this entire thread you have been saying that any game that doesnt have a menu driven combat system cannot be an rpg, which is idiocy like i said before. how is that in any way a valid argument? its your nostalgia of games passed talking, hardly basis for facts.

and there are 2 things, very different called facts and opinions

an opinion is something that doesnt have to be true, just one persons view and usually started with 'i think...'. and a fact is a true statement, usually starting off with, 'somethingoranother is..'

you seemed unclear on the difference.

one more thing, there is a giant difference of me calling that idea idiocy and you calling me a 'fuckin moron'

the only difference between me calling u a fuckin moron and u calling my opinions idiocy is the vulgarity of the two statements, mine was definitely more vulgar and direct, i dont have to beat around the bush to insult u, unlike u, which did it in a more quite yet still equally disrespectful manor. and again, this entire thread all you have done was try to argue with me, and i can obviously tell u get angered by my view on this matter so im just gonna agree to disagree and leave this thread alone, you will not find me in here again. hope you can do the same as the real topic at hand died such a long time ago, and like angel said its just being fueled by flames and opinions now, this thread has now become worthless.

really? if you reread my post you will see i wasnt calling your idea idiocy, i was saying that you basing the entire RPG genre on the combat system was idiocy. i figured that one would be common sense.

I don't care if you're being direct or indirect, there will be no more flames in this topic.

As for Oblivion, it's an RPG. The problem with it is that there are many design choices to it that make it "dumbed down" compared to Morrowind, and many of those aspects do make it less of an RPG in some sense. Regardless, I see no difference between choosing a fire spell from a menu and equipping an item that lets you deal fire damage. You're still choosing to use fire in the end. How does the way you go about choosing it determine if the game you're playing is an RPG or not? I just don't see where that thought is coming from . =/

Right now Im playing Rogue Galaxy on PS2 and REALLY enjoying it, it has some of the most amazing cut scenes I've seen in an RPG

Try "playing" Star Ocean on PS2 is you enjoy cut scenes...the reason i say "playing" is you don't actually really play it...lol...if you ever try it you'll get the joke.
