Does anyone have or has played this game? I'm curious to know what other people think about it. I think it's a solid RPG with a few really weird problems. don't get me wrong I like the game a lot but it still feels like an unfinished product.
- The money system in the game is completely flawed. You can use one character in the game to take pictures of enemy's and sell them for gold. Sounds like a cool idea and a good way to get ahead right? Funny thing is you get like 5K gold for a shitty picture of a normal enemy and you take like 6 at a time, and the most expensive items are only like 3k. I seriously took like 20 pictures at the start of the game and never worried about anything ever again.
- The dialog in the game changes in tone so much and so fast it's hard to wrap your head around it. You go from kiddy grade anime stuff (repeating what someone said for the audience "Repeating what someone said?") to deep philosophical minute long rants about reality and morality. Oh and after the game is over during the first list of credits the characters break the forth wall and start giving you life advice.
- The story itself is pretty weird and (without any spoilers) there were more then a few scenes where I had the urge to scream "TIME PARADOX" or lol about what was happening (In the first few scenes the main 14 year old girl finds and befriends a 38 year old who thinks she is a dream, she then brings him into the forest in the middle of the night then eventually runs away with him.). I implore anyone who is looking for a laugh or a trippy storyline to rent this game.
Now that I got that off my chest I want to hear what other opinions there are about this game.
Trust me, stick with it and it gets much much better later on. Every chapter or two your "party level" increases and it changes the dynamics of the fights. At first you simply button mash for 5 seconds then end it with a special attack. But by the 4th and 5th level you only get 3 seconds to do eveything, you move at 1.5X the speed, you can chain special attacks together based on the positioning (with each character having 4 different attacks) of each of your characters, and you can counterattack and special counter attack.
The game never gets hard (till the secret area or encore mode) but it gets pretty deep later in the game. Especially when you throw in all the special equipment and accessories.
