|  EA Games to Incorporate Real-Time Weather

With ground visuals in games nearly perfected, the latest step toward realism in sports video games is focused on the skies.
EA Sports' NCAA 08 Football, released July 17, is the first game to pipe in real-time weather conditions at the venue of a player's choice, thanks to a collaboration with the Weather Channel. From a snowstorm in Boston to a heat wave in Arizona, the exact environment will not only affect the visuals but also alter game dynamics.
"Rain will cause more fumbles, you'll see players breathe in the cold, and they'll get tired when it's hot," said Tyrone Miller, a spokesman for EA Sports.
The game, available for Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3, downloads a forecast every hour while the player is online, detailing precipitation, temperature and wind conditions. Hurricanes aren't part of the program, but a shift from moderate to high winds will make a fifty-yard field goal that much tougher.
The game doesn't upload conditions during games (which last about 45 minutes), so the weather at kickoff won't change for the duration. But players who might want to surprise USC with a southern California blizzard can dictate the climate.
It's available now only in NCAA 08, but Miller said EA is encouraged by the weather feature's popularity and will add it to Madden and the entire sports portfolio soon, although he wouldn't name specific games or release dates.
It's the gaming industry's latest effort to increase authenticity with features drawn from the real-life sports world.

no its already been done... NCAA 08, madden even has a real time ESPN radio show that happens every 20 mins or so, its awsome!!! and no tunice u get the option weather u want to or not | |
